The Home Depot is looking to hire 1,500 associates in Detroit and 80,000 nationwide in preparation for spring, the company's busiest selling season. Students, retirees, veterans and reservists are encouraged to apply.

MSP to hold recruiting event in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) -- The Michigan State Police plans to hold a recruiting event in the Detroit area on Saturday.

The goal is to acquaint interested candidates with career opportunities available with the agency.

The event at the Southfield Public Library will feature many of the state police's specialty units, such as the Emergency Support Team, Underwater Recovery Unit, Canine Unit, Bomb Squad, Aviation Unit and Forensic Science Division.

The Michigan State Police is looking for candidates for recruit schools beginning in June 2014 and January 2015.

An applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a Michigan resident at the time of appointment to the academy, at least 21 years old and in possession of a high school or GED diploma.



City of Detroit to hold job fair Feb. 28 - March 1




City of Detroit Job FairThe City of Detroit is looking to fill more than 350 positions.

The positions include but are not limited to police officers, Emergency Mobile Medical Technicians, bus drivers and general auto mechanics.

The job fair takes place Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 Cobo Hall from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days.

Successful Owner/Operators will have: Exceptional customer service skills, a mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble furniture, the ability to lift and carry 100 pounds (including while going up and down stairs) , previous furniture/home delivery experience, and their own tools. Owner/Operators with their own 26 ft. box truck with furniture pads and straps are preferred. Owner/Operators will be required to undergo a background screening, including drug screen, and are responsible or meeting and maintaining all DOT requirements. Detroit is hiring bus drivers and mechanics

DETROIT (AP) -
The city of Detroit is hiring bus drivers and mechanics.applications can be found online at http://www.detroitmi.gov. Mechanics must be at least 21 years old and have experience with heavy-duty diesel engines.
Bus drivers must be at least 18 and possess a commercial driver's license. Detroit says it's looking for team players and candidates with good people skills.
Mayor Mike Duggan recently hired a new transportation chief, Dan Dirks. He ran a Detroit-area bus agency, SMART, for about 10 years until 2007
